The Ironmen began in 1990 as "Cy-Fair Lacrosse", with only 11 high school athletes. In October of 1998, the team voted on a new name and became the Cy-Fair Ironmen. The new team colors changed from Cy-Fair High School's Maroon and White, to Red, White & Blue to encourage students from all high schools within the CFISD school district to participate. And The Ironmen's first appearance in their new colors and newly forged name was at The Texas A&M Tournament, in February of 1999.
Other the years, The Ironmen have hosted many tournaments, starting with The Turkey Shootout, in the 1990's. In 2000, they hosted the "Millennium Madness". And In 2001, the tournament became known as the "Cy-Fair Fall Classic".
In 2015, The Ironmen Varsity moved up to Division I in the Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL). And by the end of 2015, The Ironmen High School program had grown large enough to split into two teams, more directly aligned with specific high schools, Cy-Woods and Cy-Ranch. In 2017, with growing demographics, the Cy-Ranch Ironmen aligned with Bridgeland High School to re-establish their new name as the Bridgeland Bears and maintain the original Ironmen's D1 status.
YOUTH PROGRAM HISTORY
The Ironmen added a youth program in the early 2000's to accommodate the growing interest in Lacrosse in the Cypress area. Today, Ironmen is dedicated solely to youth Lacrosse, from the ages of Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Cy-Fair Ironmen proudly supports and feeds both the D1 Bridgeland Bears and D2 Cy-Woods Wildcats Lacrosse Clubs.
